Ari Lennox

Courtney Shanade Salter, better known as Ari Lennox, is an American artist and performer born in Washington, D.C., who was the first woman to sign with J. Cole's Dreamville Records record label. The first single, Pho which was released on 21 October 2016 was released through Dreamville Records. Her career began to grow in recognition. Shea Butter Baby her debut album was released on May 7, 2019. Ari Lennox posted her music to the internet in 2012 when she released Five Finger Discount mixtape and Ariography EP in 2013. The year 2014 saw Ari Lennox continued posting her music on the internet, including her self-released single Bound. She was featured in Omen's Elephant Eyes as well as in Sweat It Out July 21st in 2015. Later that year her music was circulating all over the Dreamville group as J. Cole wanted her to join him in creating some references for Rihanna. Her announcement to be signed by Dreamville Records was made on the 8th day of December. Backseat was her contribution to the Revenge of the Dreamers II album. The singer released Pho, her debut EP on Oct 21 the 21st of October, 2016. Ari Lennox then appeared as the opening performance to J. Cole on his track Change in 2017. She also appeared on the 4 Your Eyez Only Tour. in 2018, the singer-songwriter appeared on two tracks with EarthGang and EarthGang, on Nothing but the Best, and Bas On Icarus. Ari Lennox debuted her first single, Shea Butter Baby, Whipped Cream on July 16, 2018. A music video was then released in September. Then, in November, she released her singles forty Shades of Choke & Grampa. On November 13, she released two additional singles entitled The No One and Pdigree. Shea Butter Baby is a track that she recorded alongside Cole on Creed II's soundtrack on 16 November. The track was released as a stand-alone single in February of 2019 to coincide with her debut album. In February of 2019 a music video was released for the song. It already has nearly three millions views on YouTube within its first week. In December of 2018, she was an opening act for The From East Atlanta With Love Tour with 6LACK.
